Compensation and re-sit regulation 2011-2012

International Bachelor Communication and Media

The regulation applies as from the cohort 2011-2012.

Within the bachelor’s programme there are two separate phases of study:

  • bachelor-1 (BA-1)
  • bachelor-2/3 (BA-2/3)

A. Compensation

In bachelor-1 and bachelor-2/3 a fail of at least five (5.0) can be compensated by a grade of seven (7.0) or higher.

  1. Within the BA-1 programme a maximum of two fives can be compensated.
  2. Within the BA-2/3 programme a maximum of two fives can be compensated.
  3. A fail needs to be compensated by a pass for one or more courses together representing at least the same amount of credits.
  4. A fail for the Bachelor Thesis Class, the Bachelor Thesis, or the Internship cannot be compensated, nor can these items be used to compensate a fail for other courses.
  5. The compensation will only be allowed if the student has met all other requirements of the phase of study except the courses that qualify for compensation.

B. Re-sits

  1. Within the BA-1 programme a maximum of three courses are eligible for a re-sit. Together these courses may count for 20 credits at the most.
  2. Within the BA-2/3 programme a maximum of four courses are eligible for a re-sit. Together these courses may count for 20 credits at the most. This rule only applies to courses offered by the ESHCC.
  3. The re-sits only apply to written examinations.
  4. Retaking a course in the next academic year and sit the written examination connected to that course will count as a re-sit.
  5. A student may use the aforementioned “re-sit quotum” to re-sit an examination for a subject or course for which he or she has achieved a passing final mark. The highest mark that the student achieves will count.
