Master History of Society - Specialisation Global History and International Relations

Research Workshop

In the Research Workshop, students learn how to structure and conduct historical-scientific research adequately and efficiently. The focus is on critical assessment and discussion of the research structure outline, the data collection and the methodology. In addition, much consideration is given to analysis, reporting and presentation of findings.

Conducted during terms 2 to 4, the Research Workshop prepares the students for writing their Master’s thesis and guiding the writing process. This workshop comprises all phases, from writing the thesis to presenting the final result. Students choose their own research subjects within the broad overall theme of the Research Workshop. A thesis market is organised before the start of term 2, whereafter students select one of the Research Workshops on offer. Every Research Workshop is structured in the same way.
