BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE | |
Adrie van der Laan studied Greek and Latin in the University of Groningen before completing his PhD (on the nature and origins of humanist Latin in the Low Countries) in the Department of Classics there (cum laude). In 1997 and 1998 he taught Greek and Latin in high school. He then worked in the Huygens Institute at The Hague which is part of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 1999 he returned to Groningen as a post-doctoral researcher in the Department of the History of Philosophy. From 2004, Adrie van der Laan is secretary to the Erasmus Center for Early Modern Studies in Rotterdam as well as curator of the Rare Books Reading Room (Erasmuszaal) in Rotterdam City Library. Besides teaching Latin, he is working on a comprehensive online bibliography of early-modern editions of works by Desiderius Erasmus (Erasmus Online).
