Biographical Note

Rthythm of EternityRobbert-Jan Adriaansen (1982) is an assistant professor at Erasmus University Rotterdam. He teaches various courses on historical culture, the theory of history and cultural history. He is the coordinator of the master History of Society.

In 2013, he graduated cum laude on his PhD Thesis The Rhythm of Eternity. The German Youth Movement and the Experience of the Past (1900-1933). In his thesis, Adriaansen analyzes the conceptions of history and time dominant in the German youth movement between 1900 and 1933.

Previously, Adriaansen worked as a history and geography teacher in secondary education. He also worked on projects of the European Standing Conference of History Teachers' Associations (Euroclio) and the Zeeland Institute for Social and Cultural Development (Scoop). He finished the master History of Society at Erasmus University in 2006, cum laude with an honours degree.
