Biographical Note

Joep Hofhuis is assistant professor of intercultural and organizational communication, and teaches on this subject as well as on quantitative research methods and organizational communication. He was awarded a PhD in social and organizational psychology from the University of Groningen (2012), based on his work on cultural diversity in the workplace. Prior to working at ESHCC, he was employed at the University of Groningen, Windesheim University of Applied Sciences and University of Amsterdam.

His academic interests lie on the crossroads of communication science, organizational science and cross-cultural psychology. His current research projects focus on how organizations communicate about cultural diversity, and how intercultural communication relates to individual, team and organizational effectiveness. This involves studying a myriad of different groups in society, including migrants, refugees and expatriates, as well as communication professionals in different sectors and types of organizations.
