Thomas Teekens, MSc


Biographical Note

Thomas Teekens, MSc (Dordrecht, 1991) is a lecturer at the Department of Arts and Culture Studies and the Department of Media and Communication at Erasmus University Rotterdam. Next to teaching several tutorials in research methods courses, he coordinates and teaches the Introduction to Statistical Analysis course for Bachelor 2-students of Arts and Culture Studies.

After completing the Algemene Cultuurwetenschappen Bachelor at the Erasmus University, Thomas continued his education in the Research Master Sociology of Culture, Media and the Arts, also at this university. His Master’s Thesis dealt with the effects of networks on the success of Dutch film actors. Specifically, this thesis focused on symbolic networks: the ways in which people perceive artists as being similar to one another. His research interests centre around social network analysis, (e)valuation processes, cultural classification and sociology of the arts.
