Dr. Sarah van der Land
Sarah van der Land is an Assistant Professor in Organizational and Corporate Communication in the Department of Media and Communication. She teaches courses in the IBCoM and Master’s programme on New Ways of Working, Online Personal Branding and conducts Social Media-related research. Before joining the EUR, she worked as a lecturer at the University of Amsterdam’s Department of Communication Science (ASCoR). Sarah’s research interests focus on: 1) collaborative innovation (studying hackathon teams) 2) online personal branding and 3) virtual collaboration.
Sarah earned her PhD from the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at the VU University Amsterdam, her Master’s degree from the Radboud University Nijmegen, where she specialized in International Business Communication with a minor in Social Psychology, and graduated on effective HIV/Aids prevention in South Africa. Her work has resulted in several journal articles and book chapters, including Human Communication Research, Computers in Human Behavior and theJournal of Virtual Worlds, and has been presented at several international conferences, including the International Communication Association Conference,and the Academy of Management Conference (OCIS division). During her PhD studies, Sarah was a Visiting Scholar at Michigan State University’s Department of Telecommunication, Information Studies and Media.
